About Defensology
My name is Robert Perez and I’m a Criminal Lawyer. I’m a member of both the California State Bar Association and the Washington State Bar Association, and have an active practice in Bellevue, Washington, a suburb of Seattle up in the Great NorthWET. I created this blog because I enjoy writing about the intersection of technology and Criminal Defense, and although there are plenty of blogs and sites that serve the legal community, I wanted one that was more targeted to the non-legal community who share an interest in both criminal law and technology.
As both a Criminal Lawyer and a technologist (see this page for the long story), I’ve watched with great professional and personal interest as the law enforcement community has gone from regarding fingerprints as “high-tech”, to running some of the most sophisticated forensic laboratories in the world. The field is exploding with activity, and I won’t be able to cover all topics of interest, but I’ll write about the ones that I find the most entertaining and unusual.
